Wachovia Free Checking requires no minimum balance, no monthly service fee, no direct deposit requirement.

Wachovia's Free Checking includes...unlimited check writing and unlimited use of Wachovia's 5,300 plus ATMs for free.

Wachovia also offers, Free Balance Alerts, Online Statements & Wachovia Mobile with their Free Checking Account. You can use your mobile device to view and monitor account balances and transactions, and make one-time transfers between eligible accounts for free. A free check card is also available.

The minimum opening deposit amount for free checking is $100.

• Stop Check Payment, $25-$31 depending on state

• Standard Checks, $18-$20

• Non-Wachovia ATM Withdrawals or Inquiries, $2

• Incoming Domestic Wires, $10-$15 depending on state

• Outgoing Domestic Wires, $25

There are overdraft fees and if you are careless with your account, it could cost you. However, Wachovia offers overdraft protection by allowing its customers to link their free checking accounts to another Wachovia deposit or credit account, thereby avoiding overdraft charges.
